Two Laikpia herdsmen in Laikipia have been sentenced to death for fatally stabbing a class eight girl who refused their sexual advances.
Stephen Ntukai and Francis Lukuiye were found guilty of murdering the victim Nayiiiana Yiangere on May 16, 2012 in Laikipia North subcounty.
The girl's father, told the court Ntukai had earlier threatened to kill his daughter in case she continued to refuse to have sex with him.
While giving the ruling, Nanyuki High Court judge Mary Kasango said the action of the accused was driven by their selfish desires.
"It was cruel for the two to kill a defenseless 16-year-old girl who was described as an obedient child by her father," Justice Kasango said.
Although evidence indicated that it was only Nkutai who was seeking an a relationship with the deceased the two jointly committed the act of murder.
