Police officers in Kisii South on Tuesday morning arrested 20 people in possession of 2000 litres of illicit brew.
This comes barely 24 hours after Kisii county commissioner Godfrey Kigochi declared war against illicit brew.
Officers led by Kisii South Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) Jane Munyoki raided various notorious drinking dens and arrested consumers as well us operators.
"The area has been marked as a hotspot by the County security chiefs and we want to ensure that the drinking and production of illicit brew ends totally," said Ms Munyoki.
The operation that took part on the better part of Monday afternoon saw the police destroy containers that were being used to brew the illicit brew.
Musyoki said that they will ensure that all the dens are destroyed and those involved in the business are arraigned in court as soon as they are arrested.
The police boss revealed that the area has been the breeding zone for the illicit brew and most of the traders from other counties come all the way to Suneka to buy and sell in their areas where brewing is not allowed.
"I want to warn all those involved in the business that they will face the law and we will not stop carrying daily operations until the trade stops," she said.
