The county chief said security officers are still hunting for more suspects in the region.

“So far we have 20 cattle thieves in police custody who are helping us to arrest others. Police will not rest until all criminals stealing livestock are flushed out across the county,” he said.

He called on residents to cooperate with police and volunteer information which will help police to arrest more suspects.

Nakoru assured that by May, there will be zero cases of livestock theft in Nyamira County.

“We are committed to ensuring Nyamira records zero cases of livestock theft by May this year. Anyone intending to venture into the illegal dealings should surrender to police or relocate from Nyamira because the law will not spare such criminals,” he added.

Nakoru asked the police to intensify security patrols day and night especially along the borders of Bomet, Kericho and Narok counties where cattle theft has been rampant for several years.
