The fund is set to boost the academic excellence of the students in the ward even as they approach the opening of the schools next week.

The students were each awarded a cheque of Sh 20,000, money that has been directly paid to their respective schools across the country.

According to the MCA, the students were carefully identified by the community as the needy and bright students who come from humble backgrounds.

“The community gave us the needy students who have benefited from the program and they all come from a poor backgrounds,” said Waichere.

The MCA, who is also the Chairman of Education in Kiambu, expressed his concerns to students who get married due to poverty and lack of school fees thus disbursed Kshs. 400,000 to cater for the needy students in his ward.

He said that the Kalimoni Education Fund will be annually in his ward and appeals for well wishers to join hands in supporting the needy students who have a long future ahead of them.

“I appeal to well wishers to join hands in support of girl child education in Kenya so as to bring them at par with boys,” he said.

Waichere revealed that if sponsors step up to help him, the fund will be given atleast twice per year.

He urged parents not to marry off their daughters to men in the for the sake of attracting dowry to end poverty.

He urged the community to embrace girl child education which is clearly disadvantaged in the area.
