About 200 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) will travel to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in February in a bid to have the case against Deputy President William Ruto dropped.
National IDP chair Peter Githinji Kariuki said that they intend to camp outside the court till ICC Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda drops the case against Ruto.
Kariuki said they already have proper travelling documents and are finalising the arrangements.
“We are already in the process of securing visas so that we can travel and help free our deputy president. We have drafted a letter that we will present to Bensouda,” said Kariuki
Kariuki expressed dissatisfaction with the way the case is being handled, claiming that there were many brokers and false witnesses involved in the process.
“We expected the case to be handled in a professional manner. However, for now the court has become a tool to intimidate and harass the people in power. With the way things are moving, I don’t think we will ever get justice. We want the case to end as we feel it has no effect,” said Kariuki.
