The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) has said it will vet more that 2,000 police officers in Eastern Kenya starting Tuesday.

Already, 10,000 officers have been vetted by the Johnston Kavuludi commission.

Last year December, 127 officers were dismissed over unexplained financial transactions.

Kavuludi said these included sending and receiving money from fellow police officers in the traffic department and operating matatu businesses.

Vetting is mandatory for police officers so as to establish their suitability to serve in the service.

The vetting exercise will reportedly move to Machakos County, after Embu.

"After Embu, the team will move to Machakos for vetting of traffic police," a source privy to the process was quoted by The Star.
