Kisii County Woman Representative Janet Ong'era has asked Kisii County Commissioner Godfrey Kigochi to move with speed to beef up security across the county.
The vocal legislator while speaking on Friday in Kisii town condemned the brutal killing of two minors aged nine and four years at Omobondo village in Kenyenya, noting that police need to boost security in the area.
"Following the brutal murder of two minors in Omobondo village, Kenyenya, I urge the county commissioner to ensure people are safe especially young children and women who have been the targets of killers. The commissioner should ensure police are intensifying security patrols day and night in Kisii," she stated.
She further warned police officers against releasing the four suspects who were arrested in connection with the gruesome murder.
"I'm aware police have arrested four suspects believed to have killed the innocent young girls. I, therefore, appeal to the commissioner to follow up the matter closely so that we don't find that police have released the suspects. The suspects must be sent to jail for the bereaved family to get justice," she noted.
Ong'era was elected on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party during the August 8, 2017 polls.
She is currently serving her first term in office.
