Westlands legislator Timothy 'Tim' Wanyonyi has expressed confidence that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party will retain the Kibra parliamentary seat.
The party's candidate Imran Okoth is set to face off with a number of other hopefuls, among them Jubilee party's McDonald Mariga in the November 7 mini poll.
However, Wanyonyi on Tuesday noted that Kibra remains an ODM bedrock, adding that the party will emerge the winner.
"That seat is ours, the others are just offering a challenge since the constitution embraces democracy (Ile kiti ni yetu, hawa wengine wanaleta tu challenge kwa sababu katiba imeleta demokrasia)," he said.
The lawmaker, who was a close friend to former MP the late Ken Okoth, made the remarks during an interview on Radio Maisha's Bunge La Maisha on Tuesday morning.
He urged Kibra residents to vote in the person they believe can better their lives and uphold the interests of Ken, whom he observed was doing a great job before death struck in July.
According to Wanyonyi, that person would be Imran, whom he said has been the constituency fund manager, and is born and bred in the same constituency, making him the best bet.
Wanyonyi revealed that he repeatedly sought Imran's help as the constituency's interim MP, when Okoth was away in France for treatment.
"Imran has been the constituency manager and is well aware of the problems in Kibra. I too used to go through him when I was standing in for Okoth (Imran amekuwa constituency manager na anaelewa shida za Kibra. Hata mimi nimekuwa nikipitia kwake nilipokuwa namshikia Okoth)," he added.
