Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Tuesday arrested four suspects after they attempted to steal money from the Barclays Bank's ATM in Ruiru.

The sleuths nabbed a mobile phone they were using to communicate before the heist.

The suspects had also carried a nylon sack and a motorbike which were to be used for the heist.

The four suspects have been identified as Hillary Nge’no, Jared Nyang’au, Douglas Momanyi and Jacob Barasa.

“Four suspects were last night arrested by @DCI_Kenya Ruiru Detectives after their Attempt to Steal from Baclays Bank ATM at Ruiru was Neutralized. A Mobile Phone they were using to make contact to a source, a Nylon Sack they were to use in loading the Money & M/Cycle they were to flee on among the seized items,” DCI tweeeted.

“The four; 37-yr-old Hillary Nge’no of KK Security at Runda, 31-yr-old Jared Nyang’au (G4S Ruiru), 34-yr-old Dougla Momanyi (Bodaboda rider) & 43-yr-old Jacob Barasa were ambushed by the detectives in the act, after several attempts to empty the ATM backfired. All placed in custody & further investigations ongoing,” DCI added.

The botched heist comes barely two months after another one at South B where millions of shillings were siphoned from an ATM.
