Elgeyo Marakwet County Senator Kipchumba Murkomen claims that Jubilee Party candidate for the Kibra parliamentary by-elections Macdonald Mariga's disqualification will be thwarted.
Murkomen noted that Mariga's candidature cancellation is the work of their competitors, who fear being defeated by the football legend.
"Mariga as per the Constitution and the established law is qualified to be a candidate in the Kibra by-elections. Those who are scared of competition are putting unnecessary roadblocks on his path. That was not a RED CARD and VAR will prove us right!" said Murkomen.
However, the Senate Majority Leader has hinted that this is not the end of the road for Mariga as they will go back to the IEBC and confirm that Mariga is actually a registered voter.
Nullification of his candidature was on Tuesday when he had gone to present his certificate at the IEBC offices.
Accompanied by former Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale and other leaders, Mariga was met with a huge shock when he undergoing the scrutiny process.
The IEBC confirmed that Mariga's details were missing on the 2017 voters' register.
Therefore, they had to cancel out his name from the contestants of the Kibra parliamentary by-elections slated for November 7, 2019.
