Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen now says that he cannot confirm the alleged plot to assassinate Deputy President William Ruto.
Ruto on Monday sparked a storm when he claimed that some top state officials are plotting to eliminate him, claims he raised with Directorate of Criminal Investigation boss George Kinoti.
Murkomen who is a close ally of the DP has now said that they remain in the dark on the legality of the claims, but can see the indications pointing that they could be true.
"We don't know Jeff but you know there is a pointer to something. There is a cloud, there is a dark cloud," he said on Jeff Koinange Live (JKL) show on Wednesday.
At the centre of the allegations are four Cabinet Secretaries drawn from the Mt Kenya region, who have allegedly been holding leaders with other top state officials from the region over the issue.
Trade CS, Peter Munya, Joe Mucheru (ICT), Sicily Kariuki (Health) and James Macharia (Transport) have been implicated in the purported assassination plot.
Murkomen also weighed in on his recent claims that the nation is officially on "autopilot", remarks he made immediately after the reports were made public.
He said that the remarks are not in any way aimed at attacking President Uhuru Kenyatta, and are on the contrary in support if his leadership.
He added that Uhuru and Ruto are fully in charge of the nation and Kenyans and the remaining leaders are enjoying their leadership.
"Yes, I think so, the two captains are in the cockpit and the cabin which includes myself and the passengers are enjoying the flight," he added.
