Knec board chairman Prof George Magoha has told 2016 KCSE candidates to expect fewer As when the results are released.
Prof Magoha said the marking of the exams will be tightly monitored and supervised, just like the exam was guarded.
"The reason why you have seen a lot of government involvement is because we have gotten into a stage where Kenyan examination papers are being questioned elsewhere and holders even re-examined elsewhere. That is to say that our certificates papers are about to become worthless," he said on Wednesday at Kisumu Boys High School.
He added: "Anything outside that bracket (of 5-10 per cent) is suspicious or extraordinary and for a school to have 96.6 per cent scoring A, then that is stupidity of the highest level and nobody should be associated with such."
The 2016 KCPE and KCSE exams have been described as “the most guarded” national examinations in Kenya’s history.
Meanwhile, Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi is expected to release KCPE results today, Thursday, December 1, 2016.
