All 2016 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates who scored a minimum overall grade of C+ and above will be placed to pursue degree courses of their choice in public and private universities as government-sponsored students.
The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) said the 2017/2018 placement cycle commenced in November 2016 while the submission of applications by the candidates through their respective schools came to a close on January 15, 2017.
"Candidates who wish to pursue diploma courses will also have an opportunity to apply during the First Revision,'' said KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer John Muraguri.
He disclosed that the minimum requirement for placement into diploma courses is C – (Minus). The application is open to KCSE candidates of 2016 and previous years.
"Any other information regarding the placement of government-sponsored students to universities and colleges that may be circulating on social media and other online platforms does not emanate from the Placement Service and should be ignored,'' Muraguri clarified as he addressed the press, Thursday.
The Placement Service is now preparing for the First Revision of degree choices by individual candidates, which will commence January 30, and end February 17, 2017.
