The officers are expected to continue serving in their respective capacities after they were vetted by a team led by former NPSC chairman Johnston Kavuludi.

Kavuludi was replaced by Eliud Kinuthia after his term as NPSC chair ended in October 2018.

Kinuthia on Tuesday noted that though the vetting reports are yet to be released, the officers have been given a second chance to reform failure to which action will be taken against them.

The NPSC chair also said that the commission will not vet the more than 37,000 officers who joined the force since 2012.

“There are about 300 officers who were working with a lot of worry because reports of their vetting are not yet out. But I want to announce here today and tell those officers not to be worried and should be settled and work. None of them has been found to be suitable or unsuitable. They now have a chance to do better,” said Mr Kinuthia, as quoted by the Daily Nation.

The increased cases of police officers being involved in a series of criminal activities have led to public uproar. The general public has raised concerns over their security and access to justice after around 48 police were arrested and charged in court over different crimes.
