The 2017 General Elections will be a re-birth for Kenya as it must be about renewing hope, re-visioning this great nation.
Masese Kemunche from Centre for Enhancing Democracy and Good Governance CEDGG says a time has come fopr Kenyans to rethink and unite before going to the polls.
Speaking to this writer on Tuesday, Masese called on Kenyans to ensure peace and sobriety as the nation heads to the elections saying this is time to shun tribalism.
"2017 MUST be about renewing hope, re-visioning this great nation.There is always that time in the history of a nation that her people MUST reflect deeply and take a decisive and bold step to a brighter future of the Nation,"he said.
The Nakuru-based activist added that 2017 elections present a unique opportunity for that kind of reflection as the 2017 elections allows all Kenyans space and time to think about the project Kenya in a manner that is in tandem with sustainable development goals.
He urged Kenyans to look beyond individuals and party manifestos to the collective dream of the nation.
"The elections must be about learning from the past to build a strong Kenya. It should never be about my tribe, never be about Mulembe nation Mwanyagetinge nation Kamatusa nation or any other nation that may be spun but about Kenya as a very strong member of the global family of nations,"he said.
Masese also called on church leaders to continue praying for the nation ahead of the 2017 general elections saying the church has a big role of uniting the society.
He however cautioned the politicians who are font of inciting Kenyans and dividing them on the basis of political parties,tribe or religion terming Kenya as a one nation of diversity.
