Deputy President William Ruto has said he is proud that this year’s election was more issue based, less ethnic and peaceful compared to previous years.
He said Kenyans have to move forward as a united nation because every election has winners and losers.
Ruto said elected leaders led by President Uhuru Kenyatta will serve Kenyans equally and fairly irrespective of their political affiliation.
“This election was a lot more issue based than any other I have ever participated in. Political formations were less ethnic, we had the face of Kenya in both Jubilee and the National Supper Alliance (NASA)”.
He added: “More issues were canvassed than in any other election. I can say our country is maturing.”
Ruto was speaking during a Sunday service at the Faith Evangelistic Ministry (FEM) in Karen, Nairobi.
He said the elected leaders were the people’s choice.
“It does not matter how you voted. It does not matter who you voted for. Today, we are all winners.”
