A huge chunk of the last 365 days has been unbearable for the majority of Kenyans, according to a research that was recently conducted.
The research, which was conducted by TIFA (indicates that three out of four of those who took part in the survey described 2017 as less prosperous and more difficult and more insecure.
Political unrest, slow economic growth, and inflation massive layoffs were some of the reasons that made the last year simply intolerable.
A closely contested election was the highlight of the year, with the smoke yet to clear after the polls that threatened to tear the country apart.
The politics led to a strained economy, with many Kenyans affected by the turn of events.
The research involved 1500 respondents, with 75 percent of those who were interviewed saying this year was worse compared to 2016.
The cost of living was also a big challenge for many Kenyans, with unemployment and prolonged doctors’ strike mentioned among the constraints.
81 percent of the respondent said the country’s economy was mainly affected by the August and subsequent re-run elections.
79 percent of the respondents felt the economic conditions had worsened this year, compared to 2016.
71 percent of those polled felt that unemployment and massive layoffs experienced in different sectors was a keynote.
