The race for the 2017 presidential election is starting to shape up with different aspirants starting to take various alignments.
And ODM party leader Raila Odinga isn't an exception as he aims to broaden his political base in readiness for his fourth stab at the presidency.
As a way to realize this dream, Raila is making inroads in the Kalenjin community, a region that is a hotbed of Jubilee Party under the leadership of Deputy President William Ruto.
Speaking during a peace meeting organized by the Luo-Kalenjin elders at Kibigori, Kisumu-Nandi boarder, Raila said he is the right man to address the problems that the Kalenjin community faces.
"The Kalenjin are good runners and they are willing to join us so we can run together in the 2017 polls," said the former Prime Minister.
It was at the same time that Dickens Kironei, an elder from Nandi pleaded with the Cord leader to reach out to Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi to join the opposition outfit to form a formidable force that can form the next government.
Raila added that he has nothing personal against the Kalenjin community even as he pleaded for peace to prevail between the Luo and Kalenjin.
