Nyamira County assembly education board chairman William Atati has clarified that 2017/18 bursary funds will only benefit secondary students and not college students.
Atati said the decision should be respected as the county plans to include college students in the 2018/19 financial year.
Speaking in Nyamira town, Atati called on those who are complaining over the funds to be calm as the county works on the plans.
“This time 2017/18 county bursary funds will benefit only secondary students and let the information be clear to all,’ he said.
The county government of Nyamira set aside Sh100 million for the county bursary kitty and every ward will get Sh5 million according to Atati.
The county has 20 wards but a section of residents have been accusing the Governor John Nyagarama led administration of not including the college students in the programme.
