Youths in Uasin Gishu county should brace themselves for good times ahead after area governor Jackson Mandago reaffirmed his commitment to supporting them.

Speaking during the Pamoja concert at the Eldoret Sports club on the new year eve, Mandago said his administration had put in place several programs targeting the youth.

Mandago said implementation of the program begins this January.Among the initiatives set to be unveiled include offering paid-internship to 600 youths across the country.

"We have good plans for our youths one of them being the internship project that will see 600 youths get a stipend to sustain themselves. Beneficiaries will be for those working in both county facilities as well as private companies," Mandago said.

The vocal Jubilee governor further said his administration had set aside funds that will see talented and innovative youths get loans at low-interest rates.

"Those loans will be disbursed at 5 percent per annum. We want our youths to be financially empowered so that they can also bid big tenders in both national and county government," Mandago said.
