A section of stranded passengers who booked to travel with buses from Modern Coast company during this festive season has called for the intervention of the government in being refunded their fare.
This comes after the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) suspended the license of Modern Coast company last week, consequently barring all the 88 vehicles of the company from being on the road.
The suspension stemmed from an accident that involved two buses from the company. The accident left 8 people dead and 62 others injured.
According to some of the passengers who spoke to NTV, the company is yet to refund them their fare.
This is despite a promise by the company that it will refund all the affected customers through M-Pesa.
"They were banned by the NTSA and everybody is aware of that, but they are yet to refund our money. Right now, we are from the office of the NTSA, an official made calls. And they are confirming that first, they want to refund those who were to travel on 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th. They are people who are supposed to travel today on the 16th. They are people who are supposed to travel tomorrow on 17th henceforth. We don't know our fate. (Walibaniwa na NTSA, everybody is awa of that, na hawajaturifandia pesa yetu. Saa tumetoka kwa ofisi hapa za NTSA, mkubwa amepiga simu. And they are confirming that kwanza wanataka warudishie watu wa tarehe 12, 13 , 14 na 15. Kuna watu wana travel leo 16th, kuna watu wanatravel kesho 17th henceforth. We don't know our fate)," one passenger told NTV on Monday.
