Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has sensed defeat in the upcoming Kibra by-election, nominated Senator Millicent Omanga has said.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Omanga said ODM’s threat to storm IEBC offices is a clear indication that they are overwhelmed and sensing defeat.
She argued that Jubilee’s McDonald Mariga is a stronger candidate than ODM’s Imran Okoth.
"The ODM party, as usual, has started blaming IEBC of planning to rig the forthcoming Kibra by-election. I'm not surprised, neither should you. See, with an annoyingly weak candidate and an energised Jubilee party leaving nothing to chance, the Orange party has been hit where it hurts and so like a drowning man, it is clutching on straws to survive. We expected this from ODM, because this has always been their modus operandi.
"The truth, however, is, the "bedroom" that they expected would be an easy ride is under intense fire and Baba and his minions who issued that acutely convoluted statement threatening IEBC with hellfire are heavily overwhelmed by the heat. That's why you're seeing them attacking the commission, the same thing they always do when they're losing," she posted.
On Tuesday, ODM threatened to march to IEBC headquarters over voter register to be used in the Kibra by-election.
“The IEBC has refused to provide the updated register for Kibra constituency ahead of the November 7 election even after persistent requests by the party. We shall be marching to their offices tomorrow (Wednesday) at 9 am and will not leave until it is provided,” said the party in a statement.
