Former Kisii County Senator Chris Obure has appealed to Kisii and Nyamira leaders to join hands and support Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i to deliver and meet President Uhuru Kenyatta's expectations.
Speaking on Monday in Sameta, Kisii County, Obure argued that a section of leaders in the region are fighting Matiang'i instead of being proud that the CS is representing the Gusii community at the national government.
"I want to call upon leaders from Nyamira and Kisii counties to unite and support Matiang'i where possible for him to deliver as by the president's expectations. As leaders from the Gusii community we must be proud of Matiang'i's work as he has made the community to be known," said Obure.
The former Kisii County gubernatorial aspirant challenged politicians from the Gusii community to shun politics based on hatred and political parties saying dirty politics will hinder development.
He urged elected MPs to take advantage of Matiang'i's top position in government to push for more development projects.
"MPs need to talk in one voice and meet Matiang'i to plead with him to bring more development to the region given that he is responsible for the coordination of national government projects," Obure stated.
