Estranged Meru Senator Mithika Linturi has admitted that the rocky relationship among Jubilee leaders could eventually be costly to the ruling party.
On Tuesday during the burial of his father Peter Linturi, Mr Linturi asked Deputy President William Ruto to ask President Uhuru Kenyatta to intervene.
For months now, Jubilee party has been rocked with wrangles, with two groups emerging. One known as Tanga Tanga supports Ruto while the Kieleweke faction supports Uhuru.
"Tell the President that we are pained to see this party die when we have put so much on it. Tell him the party belongs to all stakeholders and not the two of you," said Mr Linturi.
The Meru Senator said Kenyans would never forgive party leaders if Jubilee folded.
The DP, however, downplayed the alleged JP crisis, saying it would be ironed out amicably and that the ruling party would emerge stronger. But he blamed some leaders "for creating confusion" in the party, in a veiled attack on the Opposition leader Raila Odinga.
"Whereas we in Jubilee excel in development projects such as infrastructure development, provisions of healthcare and electricity connections, there is another fraction of leaders in this country whose primary concern is creating political shortcuts," he said.
President Uhuru Kenyatta is yet to call for Jubilee Parliamentary Group meeting as party leader since 2017. His handlers claim that the meeting is unnecessary.
Early this year, Vice Chairman David Murathe resigned from the party after maintaining that Dr Ruto has nill chances of succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta.
