Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno has blamed the DPP Noordin Haji's office for the increased sale or intake of illegal liquor in the county.
Speaking during Mashujaa Day celebrations at 64 Stadium in Eldoret town on Sunday, Chemno said the the DPP's office has been a stumbling block in this war.
“I want to thank both county and national government officers for helping in the fight of illegal alcohol but the office of the public prosecutor is letting us down. How can you release a culprit in possession of 5 litres by just warning him?” asked Chemno.
Chemno noted that illicit liquor business is booming due to the leniency by the office of the DPP.
“As a county government, we are not happy at all with the decision to release the culprits since our children will suffer since five litres can destroy a whole generation, therefore they should re-look at their law if they want to help in the fight against illegal liquor,” added Chemno.
Chemno observed that if nothing is done, cases of insecurity, breakage of families will increase in Uasin Gishu.
