Deputy President William Ruto was among the leaders who attended the funeral of Chris Adema, son of Ikolomani MP Bernard Shinali which was held in Lirhembe, Ikolomani, Kakamega County.

The second in command, who was accompanied by several others leaders from different corners of the country said that Adema's death was a big blow to the family of the lawmaker. 

He also said that death had robbed the country of a vibrant young man who was destined for greatness. 

“Chris Adema was an outgoing, sprightly and jovial personality. Chris was hardworking, diligent, and confident. His forthcoming orientation endeared him to many; saw him fit and thrive in a multi-cultural setting. Chris had a steely determination to succeed; he was strong and brave,” he said.

Atema, 35, a US marine reportedly met his death after drowning in a swimming pool in Arizona State. He was attempting to save the life of a minor before he met his death.

Mr Robert Ayitsi, the family spokesman, said that the lawmaker is unable to tell what claimed the life of his beloved son. He also said that they were informed about his death by a relative who works in the navy.

 “We received the news about his death from a relative who works with him in the navy. The MP travelled to the US and will be coming back with the remains of his son,” said Mr Ayitsi, earlier in the month.
