Deputy President William Ruto has likened the West Pokot mudslides tragedy to a horror movie, terming the situation 'wanting'.
At least 52 people have been confirmed dead even as the government deployed Kenya Defense Forces team in the search and rescue mission.
The tragedy happened on Friday night.
After having taken aerial surveillance on the place and subsequently visiting Kapenguria hospital, DP Ruto on Monday narrated the frightening ordeal at the facility.
"As you can see, we have quite a situation here. We have been to the hospital and whatever I saw there is like something that has come from a horror movie," he said.
"We have parents who have lost children, we have kids who are traumatized. It's a situation which has never been witnessed in the short history of our country. We've come so that the residents would know the national government is with them."
Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i had on Monday forced to land in Eldoret due to bad weather, a move that subjected him to criticism from a section of leaders.
With Kapenguria hospital incapable of storing more than 14 dead bodies, the government has transferred a number of them to Kitale and Eldoret.
Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen also insisted on Dr Ruto's sentiments, adding that the government will pitch tent in the area until the matter is resolved.
"It’s 6pm and we are now leaving West Pokot. We shall return again and again until this problem is sorted and the people are safe. God bless and protect the people," he said.
