As he continues to build his political machinery ahead of the 2022 general election, Deputy President William Ruto has been asked to change his political approach if he is to have any realistic chance of succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta.
So far, the DP remains a front-runner in President Kenyatta 2022 succession race. However, veteran journalist and political commentator Kwendo Opanga has asked Dr Ruto to take a new political approach in a bid to water down the opposition to his bid for the top seat come the next election.
In his column on the Sunday nation, Opanga asked the DP to go back to the political drawing table and strategize on his next move.
" So what does Dr. Ruto do? One, go back to the political drawing board and, even as a dead car strategy, but keeping Mr. Moi in mind," said Opanga.
He further asked the Deputy President to popularize President Kenyatta's big four agenda and also declare his wealth and ask others to do so.
Opanga further asked Dr Ruto to go slow on his boss, President Kenyatta while intensifying his attacks on ODM leader Raila Odinga, and portray him as a bad person keen to sabotage his presidential ambitions.
