Here are the reasons why you should incorporate "matumbo" in your diet as explained by Jillian Kubala, MS, RD, dietitian.

1. Packed with high-quality proteins

Protein will always be important to the body because it helps in body building. 

Tripe is a great source of protein that contains essential amino acids required by the body to function properly. Tripe may also help you lose excess body fat and maintain healthy weight. 

Since it is highly enriched with protein, tripe can reduce starvation, preventing the chances of overeating.

 2. Great source of vitamins and nutrients

"Matumbo" has significant amount of nutrients that have cardinal roles in the body. Selenium, zinc and Vitamin B12 are among the most important nutrients found in tripe. Vitamin B12 is known for production of red blood cells, nerve transmission and energy production. 

Zinc, on the other hand, helps in boosting the immune functions, cell division and metabolism of carbohydrates. Selenium is required for DNA production and thyroid health. If you need stronger bones, tripe can help you get them as it is loaded with calcium.
