Confirming the new development, outgoing Algerian Ambassador to Kenya Salah Francis Elhamdi said that the nation is fully behind Kenya’s bid for the seat for the 2021-2022 term.

Elhamdi gave Uhuru the assurance when he bid him farewell at State House Nairobi on Monday. He said that the seat will make Kenya better placed when it comes to both regional and peacekeeping missions.

On his part, Uhuru welcomed the support of the Algerian government as he awaits the verdict from the UN. He also hailed Elhamdi for serving his nation with commitment and diligence during the period he was in office.

“You made significant contribution to strengthening our relations during your tour of duty in Kenya. It has been a joy working with you,” Uhuru told Elhamdi.

The President also exuded confidence that Algeria and Kenya will maintain their bilateral relations as they seek to empower their populations.

Uhuru hinted that the two nations will ink more deals in the near future.

The Head of State also met High Commissioner Yatiman Bin Yusof in a separate occasion where he promised to work with him for the betterment of their ties.
