Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali, his Matungu counterpart Justus Murunga, and former Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale have alleged that Former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga has been using the handshake to benefit the Nyanza region before President Uhuru Kenyatta completes his second and final term in government.

According to Khalwale, Raila, who is also African Special Envoy, has sidelined several regions including Western in his quest for development following his handshake with President Kenyatta.

The Former Senator, who has been very vocal on matters of national interest, cited Kisumu port and of Kicomi factory among other projects as a show of lack of transparency.

“Raila no longer values western where he claims to be the 13th grandson of Wanga King Nabongo Mumia,” Dr Khalwale said, as quoted by Daily Nation

.Kinango MP Benjamin Tayari (ODM) and Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa also said that the leaders from the Coast region have no reasons to smile since Raila and Uhuru agreed to work together.

Jumwa said that she supported the handshake between the two leaders but nothing good has come forth from the same.

“I was among those who supported the handshake, but I discovered that it was not for unity. When I decided to back the DP, I was expelled from the party,” she said.
