The five have since reached out to the house speaker to declare West Asembo ward seat vacant, as its holder Ambrose Auma Akuno continues living in Germany.

In their petition dated September 2, the voters claim the absence of the MCA has seen his constituents miss out on representation.

They consequently want Speaker George Okode to invoke article 196 (1b) and declare the seat vacant, opening it up for a by-election.

“Representing us implies attending the assembly plenary sessions and defending our interests on the floor of the House on a case by case basis," they said.

They noted that he has consequently skipped sittings between February 13 and April 25 2019.

The five are Lilian Omondi Jametho, Bernard Genga, Charles Omondi Simbe, Bernard Akumu Abidha, and Peter Omedo Ambere.

However, speaking on Monday, the embattled MCA said he always gets permission from the assembly for his monthly travels.

He claimed that the petition is part of an ongoing political fight against him by those thinking that he has a close association with the Speaker, who is a resident of his ward.

“I visit my family in Germany every month and each time I travel out of the country, I seek permission (from the Speaker),” he said.
