The event took place at the Eldoret National Polytechnic grounds where all the 47 counties were represented.

Ruto said the County Assembly games bring people together as well as play a role in promoting culture and eliminating borders.

The DP further noted that such sports are also critical in promoting devolution.

"The National Government recognises the central role of County Assemblies in ensuring the biggest achievement of our Constitution—devolution—is secured, promoted and succeeds. Certainly, without County Assemblies, our devolved systems would be in danger," said the DP.

"The coming together of County Assemblies is a testimony that our counties are not units of division but units of unity," he added.

The games which kicked off on Sunday, September 29, will end on October 5,  2019.

The teams will compete in different games such as football, volleyball, netball, athletics among others.
