Churchill Show comedian Oliver Otieno, popularly known as YY, has recalled how Kenyans once spread rumours about his death.
Speaking during an interview on Milele FM, YY explained that people had mistaken him for his colleague Ayeiya who got involved in an accident and died in 2017.
According to the comedian, he first heard the rumour of his death from his colleague Dr King'ori while travelling from Nairobi to Eldoret.
"There was a time when AKA died, may his soul rest in peace. First of all, on that day I was travelling to Eldoret, and I had stopped at Nakuru for a while because I was feeling sleepy. I had departed from here at around 3am, and so I began feeling sleepy. In the morning, Dr King'ori called and asked me how I was. He sounded like he was stammering while asking; are you okay? I have heard that you are dead.
(Kuna wakati when AKA, may his soul rest in peace alipoaga, kwanza hiyo siku nilikuwa naenda Eldoret, so nilkuwa nimesimama hapo Nakuru kidogo kwa sababu nilikuwa nimeanza kulala. Nilitoka hapa saa tisa usiku, so nikafika Nakuru nikaanza kusinzia, nikapark mahali. So asubuhi Dr King'ori akanipigia simu akaniambia niaje, nikasikia ni kama anaongea akisitasita, ni vipi uko sawa? Si nimeskia ni kama ati ulikuwa umeenda)," YY narrated during the interview.
The comedian also recounted some of the awkward experiences that he had been through due to the false allegations of his death. He, however, said he does not blame people as he understands the allegations stemmed from him being confused with his late colleague.
