Deputy President Ruto William on Saturday toured Tharaka Nithi County. The second in command was accompanied by various government officials.
During the tour, Ruto commissioned Tharaka Technical Training College, Marimanti. In his speech, Ruto urged different stakeholders to support the education sector.
He said that education plays an important part in the lives of Kenyans.
The Deputy President, who is considered as the potential successor of President Uhuru Kenyatta, also reiterated that the government is committed to ensuring better service delivery.
He noted that Uhuru-led government is ready to deliver on his promise before he completes his second and final term in government.
“A robust education infrastructure is an effective tool for teaching and learning. It enhances student-teacher engagement; improves learners' capabilities and grades; reduces drop out rates; creates good spaces for the physical development of students and fosters holistic growth,” he said.
The tour comes at a time when the alleged plot to assassinate him has caused cracks in the Jubilee Party. His allies have been calling for speedy probe into the matter.
Led by Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi and Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, the leaders have said that the allegations are a serious matter. Ruto, however, is yet to record a statement over the matter.
