In a move that could shape up 2022 politics, Duale, a key ally of Deputy President William Ruto, believes that Parliamentary system will level playing ground and give small communities an opportunity to lead the country.

" It is time to end this tyranny of numbers where a few communities can come together and form a winning coalition. We must have a governance system where every community has a chance to lead this country," Duale was quoted by The Standard.

According to the National Assembly majority leader, the presidential system of governance can be blamed for the recurring cycle of violence witnessed in the country during electioneering periods.

He believes that political power and resources should be equally shared as a way to bring cohesion into the country adding that he is ready to support the Building Bridges Initiative report which will advocate for parliamentary system of governance.

With Deputy President openly opposed to the BBI, it remains to be seen what impact  Duale's declaration will have on 2022 politics.

As to whether the lawmaker and the DP will be on the same political camp come the next election a puzzle.
