A 50-year-old man on Monday left a Nyamira court in shock when he pleaded guilty to a charge of defiling his one-year-old daughter.
Standard Digital reports that the suspect Bernard Omayio Kegwaro had been presented in court not only for defiling his daughter but also causing her physical harm by beating her up.
The accused is believed to have committed the act of sexually molesting a minor on September 27 in Nyamiacho Village in Bomwagamo, North Mugirango.
Shockingly enough, Kegwaro pleaded guilty to all offences when he was presented before Resident Magistrate Alice Towett.
It is alleged that on the day that the suspect committed the crime, the mother of the child had left him to take care of her.
At around 6:30 pm when she returned home, she found the daughter who had been bathed crying.
Upon close examination on the child who was oozing blood from her private parts, the mother realized that the daughter had been defiled.
The child was consequently taken to Nyamira Referral Hospital for treatment. She was however discharged on the same day while in stable condition.
In his defence, the accused claimed that he was not intending to harm the child but was only exorcising a snake which he had seen around the child.
It was also discovered that Kegwaro is an ex-convict.
The court demanded pre-sentencing report from the probation office before handing him the sentence for the charges he pleaded guilty to.
