The two leaders, both of whom died while receiving treatment at the Nairobi Hospital, in a span of three days succumbed to cancer, which Barasa now wants the government to handle seriously.

In a tweet on Tuesday, the first-term MP proposed that the government should personally take up the matter and lead the fight, as a way of celebrating the legacies of all the leaders who have lost their loves to the same.

He stressed on the need for the government to emulate the steps taken when the HIV and Aids epidemic was first discovered.

"The fight against cancer should be part of the government's agenda, that's the best way we can celebrate the legacy left behind by Hon.Okoth, Gov.Laboso and others. Just like the Gov'ts did when HIV and AIDs was first discovered," he said.
