Guelord Mwamba and Abdalla Hassan goals were enough to help Bandari FC sink Union Sportive (US) de Ben Guerdane of Tunisia 2 - 0 in a closely contested first leg of the second round of the CAF Confederation Cup match played on Saturday at Moi Sports Centre Kasarani.
After a first-half scoreless tie, Bandari had to wait till the last quarter of the match to find the back of the net after the Tunisia side proved stubborn.
Congolese attacker Guelord Yema Mwamba rose above to notch home for the dockers after a well-delivered corner from Abdalla Hassan on 74th minute.
Minutes later, Hassan headed in a second for Bandari after William Wadri superb free-kick on 78th minute.
The victory gives Bandari an upper hand as they hope to break away jinx that has seen most Kenyan teams fail to progress past the knockout phase and book a berth in the group stage.
The dockers will travel on September 29 to Tunisia for the return leg of the second round of the CAF confederation cup.
Bandari coach, Bernard Mwalala exuded confidence after the match and saluted his charges for a spirited fight after enduring a hard time at home against the visitors.
He noted that they won't dwell much on the victory instead, they have to focus on the return leg match which won't be easy.
"If we get an away goal, it will work on our favour. But, our key task is to go and defend and try to find one goal to keep us safe. It will be a tough fixture away," said Mwalala
