A man is fighting for his life at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital after he received a dog's beating from angry members of the public.
It is alleged that the suspect whose identity is yet to be revealed together with two others who are on the run broke into Nyaura primary school at 2 am, Sunday.
Area chief Yobesh Mose confirmed the suspect's beating.
"They attacked a night security guard, tied and locked him in one of the classes before they broke into the school's office. Residents surrounding the school heard the commotion at the school and rushed to the school to confirm what was happening," said the chief as reported by Egesa FM.
Mose said two out of the three suspects managed to escape into darkness abandoning the third suspect behind.
"Angry residents managed to arrest one suspect, beat him thoroughly before I rescued him from the jaws of death. Residents wanted to set the suspect on fire but, luckily I managed to intervene and save the suspect's life," said the chief.
He noted that the suspect will be charged in court once discharged from hospital.
The administrator said the suspect does not hail from Nyaura.
