In the last few weeks, DP Ruto and his team have gone ballistic on media, accusing sections of journalists of spreading 'fake news'.

On Saturday, Itumbi pointed an accusing finger on The Standard, accusing the Mombasa-Road based media house of being biased.

Itumbi insisted that the DP will speak directly to the people, adding that he will not use newspapers' brokers to communicate his agenda.

"The Twitter Handle of GM, also called Standard, is at it again. Attempting to frame a political contest, through phantom conclusions & falsehoods. @WilliamsRuto is clear it will be a robust conversation. FAKE News. WSR will speak to Kenyans directly, not through BROKERS wa gazeti," he said.

On Saturday, the paper had suggested that Ruto had expressed divergent opinions from those of his boss, Uhuru Kenyatta on Building Bridges Initiative report.

At Bungoma on Friday, Uhuru insisted that the country needs to accommodate certain changes, adding that politicians should first read the BBI report.

“Only a fool will say that there are no issues in this country that require (to be addressed), so let us address them as adults and civilised human beings. Let us appreciate that we may have divergent views, but our object is to make our motherland better, to improve it,” he argued.

Speaking several miles away in Nairobi, Ruto suggested that Building Bridges Initiative is being used by certain politicians for political relevance.

“Kenyans are not fools to just accept conmanship hidden in BBI which they are using as a political tool for 2022,” he said.
