Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna has lashed out at the Kenyan media over claims of among others fabrication of information.
In a tweet on Saturday, the former Nairobi senatorial aspirant claimed the media has not only repeatedly published wrong information, but also made up stories.
He termed it a "when there is no story create one!" industry, adding that he has at times had to repeatedly clarify an issue for the same media house.
According to Sifuna, the same, which has been running for about three days, is a demonstration of just how shameless the Kenyan media is.
"The Kenyan Media has shown in the last few days it is the most shameless. Where there is no story, create one! I am "clarifying" things every 3 minutes to different people in the same media house! They will interview any busy body who will advance their storyline. Takataka (rubbish)," he tweeted.
This comes only three days after he bashed the Daily Nation newspaper, a publication of the Nation Media Group for reporting that ODM party leader Raila Odinga is working with two other leaders to scuttle the Punguza Mizigo referendum pursuit.
"It is clear @NationMediaGrp @dailynation has taken a position to support Aukot's bill. How else do you explain a headline story on the bill that neither mentions nor discusses its content and merits/demerits thereof? Constitutional amendment is not a pageant/popularity contest!" he wrote.
This was after the paper, in its front-page, claimed that Raila, Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya) and National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale are fighting Aukot's bid.
