Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura now says that former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri's can constructively use his sacking from the cabinet to his own advantage.
Kiunjuri was earlier in the week sacked by President Uhuru Kenyatta, in what pundits are arguing might have been a way of axing out those seen as unable to obey the president.
The vocal lawmaker now says that this has handed the former Laikipia East MP a ground to contest for the Mt Kenya kingpin post, a position he has been associated with for some time now.
“Kiunjuri has been given the firepower to contest the leadership of Mt Kenya region because power is never given,” Isaac Mwaura told the Standard in an interview on Sunday.
However, Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu argues that Kiunjuri will have to get another platform to engage in politicking, claiming that this is what he has been doing all along.
According to him, Kiunjuri has been using his cabinet position to pursue the post, and now that he has lost the docket, he will have to get another platform from where to play politics.
Igembe Central politician Joseph Mithika said that Uhuru is not in any danger of losing his kingpin slot, at least not to Kiunjuri who remains a local Laikipia politician.
According to him, the fact that Kiunjuri has never won any seat outside Laikipia East and his poor performance in cabinet only make him a punctured tyre fooling himself that he is bigger.
