The 13-year-old girl scored 391 marks at the Xaverian Primary School in Kisumu, and having realised that her parents were unable to pay her form one school fees amounting to more than Sh53, 000 wrote a suicide note.

The move prompted well-wishers to step in and pay her fees. Form one school fee was paid by Nairobi based lawyer John Ogolla while her form two school fee was paid by Lake Victoria South Water Works Development Agency Board Chairman Erick Okeyo.

On Wednesday, the girl’s mother Lucy Ombok admitted her at Asumbi Girls High School for her secondary school education.

“She is now in school and she is very happy. Initially, she thought that her dream of joining secondary school would not come true, but it has come to pass,” Ombok said in an interview on Thursday morning.

“She really thanks everyone who supported her. She has promised to work hard and help others who will need support in the future. She wants to be a physiotherapist,” added Ombok.

The mother said that the girl whose father comes from Khwisero Constituency in Kakamega County, still needs support for form three and four school fees, urging well-wishers to continue reaching out to her through pay bill number 600100 or account number 0100006707388 (Stanbic Bank).
