Tongaren Member of Parliament Eseli Simiyu has lamented that he was not introduced during the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) meeting at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega despite being present.
Speaking during an interview with NTV on Tuesday, the lawmaker said that several leaders were sidelined during the meeting.
He wondered why leaders from as far as Central Kenya were given the chance to express themselves yet he could not be introduced at his backyard.
"There was a serious attempt to exclude certain leaders from the BBI rallies held in Bukhungu. I was even left out during the introduction," he lamented.
He noted that Kenyans are not speaking in one voice as it was projected, adding that the report has caused division rather than unity in the region.
"People are using the BBI to cause division among regions," he said.
On the issue of the looming referendum, Eseli said that he has no problem with the same as long as it takes into account the real issues affecting Kenyans from different walks of life.
The lawmaker further said that it is important for the leaders to spearhead the calls for unity rather than division.
"If there is going to be a referendum on the BBI, we have to ensure that it is not divisive," he said.
