Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua, a staunch supporter of Deputy President William Ruto has strongly defended President Uhuru Kenyatta's track record in Mount Kenya region.
Speaking during an interview with a vernacular TV station on Monday, Inooro TV, Gachagua rejected the notion that the head of state had not done anything in the region which is is home turf.
He went on to say that those peddling the view that the president had done nothing were keen on embarrassing Uhuru who is in his second and final term.
"There are roads which are being built, there is water which is being connected... Anybody saying that the president has not done anything, he or she would be embarrassing the president and is not a good person," the Mathira MP said.
A section of politicians from the region have severally claimed that the head of state has forgotten the region.
However, Uhuru hit back at the Central Kenya leaders last year for accusing him of not doing enough.
He called on all elected leaders from the region to focus on their mandate on representing the electorate and initiating development in their areas of jurisdiction.
