An ageing man collapsed and died on spot on Monday after emotionally viewing the remains of his wife at Bosamaro ward in Nyamira.
A visibly weak Peter Nyarega could not contain pressure when the remains of his wife arrived from Gucha mortuary in Keroka hours past noon on Monday.
The incident, the first of it's kind, left the entire village shocked, with the family forced to make impromptu decision after his demise.
His wife, Naom Nyarega, had died last week. The weak old man did not accompany the family to the morgue and had not shown any signs of illness.
Family spokesman Samuel Amisi, in a phone call on Tuesday, said they had no option other than to hold two funerals on Tuesday (today).
"May your souls rest in eternal peace uncle Peter Nyarega Nyasani and your beloved wife Naom Nyarega. I can't imagine that you're going to be buried the same day (today) Shine on your way," he said.
"We shall hold two funerals to cut the expenses. He had no signs of illness and I thank God for that. It's paramount that we get business now going. There is nothing we can do," he said.
Elder Charles Manwa, said the bizarre incident is 'normal', adding that people should not raise unnecessary speculations over the same matter.
"This is normal. I know some people will start talking of many issues. It's God who creates and takes away. That should not be questioned," he said.
The burial for the two love birds is currently underway at Riamandere village in Bosamaro with hundreds of locals expected to attend the funeral service.
