MPs allied to Deputy President William Ruto have been cautioned against blocking his appointment in Parliament, with the city lawyer expected to know his fate in September.

Veteran politician and lawyer Steve Mogaka on Sunday backed Mr Otachi, arguing that his nomination is a big honour to the people of Gusii.

"We have a Chief Justice, Solicitor General and also another appointment at National Lands Commission. This is something we should not take for granted," he sauf.

In a warning directed to Ruto's troops in Parliament, Mr Mogaka urged them to back Otachi, adding that he fought competitively to be shortlisted.

"I want to ask my brother (Vincent Kemosi) that please do not go to Sugoi and get instructions to block him. Instead, ask your master (DP William Ruto) to whip his people for Otachi," he said.

Governor John Nyagarama also on Sunday backed Otachi's nomination, adding that his experience in law will make his job a little bit easier.

But in a rejoinder, Kemosi said Tanga Tanga team had no intentions to block Mr Otachi, adding that parliament is not compromised.

"Why should we block his appointment? We love competence and nobody can compromise us when it comes to making such decisions."

Mr Otachi is credited for helping President Uhuru Kenyatta win his International Criminal Court case at the Hague in 2014. He is set to take over from Mohamed Swazuri.
