In an interview, Abonyo termed Uhuru a 'nice' man, lauding him for the contributions towards helping the family organise a decent burial for Laboso.

Laboso died in July this year at Nairobi Hospital following months of hospitalisation at London and India over cancer. She was first detected with cancer in 1991.

During the funeral process in August, President Uhuru Kenyatta, DP William Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga are among those who participated.

"But [President] Uhuru is a good man," he added.

"The state must be well appreciated. It afforded us much help. Joyce also had numerous friends who were loyal, genuine and true," he added

Of priority, he said, would be the completion of the Mother and Child Care hospital which was at the heart of Laboso, even on her death bed.

"She even told the President and his deputy about it. She wanted this to succeed and even as a private citizen, I would do something to help it," he added.

Recently, President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed Mr Abonyo to State Corporations Advisory Committee for a period of three years.

Dr Laboso was replaced by Dr Hillary Barchok, another don who had been serving as the Deputy Governor of Bomet County government.
