Former Nakuru County The National Alliance (TNA) Chair Abdul Noor has claimed that the Thursday function at Deputy President William Ruto's home in Sugoi was a controversial one.
The DP on Thursday hosted politicians from the Kikuyu community, under the leadership of Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri who declared their support for the DP's 2022 presidential bid.
But Noor, also the former Councillor for Flamingo Ward in Nakuru county, now claims that none of the attendees was allowed into the meeting house with their phones.
Speaking on Sauti Ya Mwananchi, also attended by veteran politician Koigi wa Wamwere on Saturday, he claimed that the group only got their phones back after the meeting.
"None of the attendees was allowed in with their phones, they were collected by GSU officers at the entrance. (Ukiangalia wale walienda pale, hakuna yule aliruhusiwa kuingia na simu yake, simu zilichukuliwa na wale GSU pale nje)," he said.
Noor, now a notable Jubilee Party leader in Nakuru, added that similarly, about 5,000 Kenyans were present at the function, which ended up in a scuffle.
He claimed that despite an earlier promise that they would be paid for their attendance immediately after the function, some were told to leave and come for their money on Monday.
He alleged that each attendee was to receive Sh1,600, bringing the total sum to Sh8 million.
"The meeting was attended by 5,000 Kenyans who were to receive an Sh1,600 pay. But there was trouble as some demanded an immediate pay. (Mkutano ambao wakenya 5,000 walihudhuria na walikuwa wapewe kila mtu Sh1,600. Hata kulikuwa na shida maana kuna watu walitaka walipwe hapo hapo)," he added.
